-- FIVE-STAR TOUR WITH WORKERS' MONEY
Turkey's Union of Road, Construction and Building Workers (YOL-IS) will host a delegation of three hundred; including Interior Minister Besir Atalay, 12 governors picked by the minister, bureaucrats and their families, in a five-star hotel for four days and nights.

-- MASSES DEMAND EQUAL CITIZENSHIP
Alevis voiced the following demands in a mass rally in Ankara on Sunday; the Religious Affairs Authority should be disbanded, djemevis should be given "place of worship" status, mandatory religious education should be halted, Madimak hotel should be turned into a museum, no mosque should be built in Alevi villages, the imams assigned to Alevi villages should be assigned to places where they are needed, religious discrimination should end. -- HURRICANE IN KADIKOY
Fenerbahce won the breath taking derby at Sukru Saracoglu stadium in Istanbul. Galatasaray took the lead in the second minute of the game with a goal by Lincoln against Fenerbahce, which they could not defeat in Kadikoy for the past nine years. Selcuk tied the score in the 6th minute. Fenerbahce took the lead when Emre Asik scored an own goal. When a shot by Roberto Carlos returned from the goalkeeper in the 49th minute, Lugano scored the third goal for Fenerbahce. Deivid set the score with the fourth goal for Fenerbahce in the added time.

Seventy years has passed since the farewell of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the modern Republic of Turkey. We commemorate the great leader with a longing that never lessens.
-- AGAR TO BE TRIED AFTER 12 YEARS
A former minister Mehmet Agar, who was never tried despite serious allegations regarding the Susurluk scandal, will appear before court for the first time today. Agar could not be tried before now because of his political immunity.
-- IMMEDIATE REJECTION TO BIG CALL
Alevis living in Turkey voiced their demands in a rally on Sunday. The response to the demands made to government came immediately. Replying to the Alevis, who did not want mosques to be constructed in Alevi villages, Minister Said Yazicioglu said, "We do not esteem extreme ideas".

-- GUL'S RESPONSE TO QUESTION ABOUT OBAMA
In an interview with Belgium's Le Vif/L'Express magazine, President Abdullah Gul said, "(if new president-elect Barrack Obama recognizes the so-called Armenian genocide) it is not an honest attitude to recognize a non-existing thing as an existing one. Actually, this not the job of politicians. Such a move would create problems. No one should forget the fact that Turks and Armenians have lived together in peace for centuries. There was not a single problem between the two peoples except for the special situation during World War I."

Tens of thousands of members of the Alevi faith held a demonstration in Ankara to protest compulsory religious classes. Alevis also called on the government to abrogate the Directorate of Religious Affairs and not to build mosques in Alevi villages.

-- WHAT WILL RTUK DO NOW?
According to Competition Board, Qatari partner has the privilege to veto any financial decision regarding Sabah-ATV. However, Supreme Board of Radio and Television (RTUK) bans privileged partnership. Under Article 29 of the RTUK Law, foreign capital can not have more than a 25 percent share in radio and TV companies. It says none of the partners can have privileged share in radio and televisions. The ban on privileged share aims at preventing foreigners, who seem a small share holder, to manage the company secretly.
-- WE DO NOT ESTEEM EXTREME IDEAS OF ALEVIS
State Minister Mustafa Said Yazicioglu described the demands of Alevi Bektasi Federation as "extreme ideas". Yazicioglu said some circles pursued a policy by putting forth sharp different opinions, "I would like to say that this is not in the advantage of the country," he said.

-- ALEVIS DEMANDED THEIR RIGHTS
Alevis who poured into Ankara for the mass rally organized by the Alevi Bektasi Federation filled the Sihhiye square on Sunday. Hundred thousand Alevis in the square and many others who were left outside voiced demands like; "mandatory religious classes should be banned, the religious affairs authority should be disbanded," and "the Madimak Hotel should be turned into a museum".
-- FENERBAHCE VICTORIOUS ONCE AGAIN IN MAJOR DERBYÂ Â Â Â
Fenerbahce won the first derby of the season. Fenerbahce won the match with a score of 4-1 and continued the tradition of defeating Galatasaray in Kadikoy. Galatasaray took the lead in the 2nd minute of the game but their happiness did not last much as Fenerbahce made the score even with a goal by Selcuk in the 6th minute. Fenerbahce, who took the lead in the first half after an own goal by Emre Asik, outscored their opponents with two goals in the second half by Lugano and Deivid.

-- ALEVIS TAKE TO STREETS FOR FIRST TIME
Some hundred thousand Alevis gathered in the capital city of Ankara for the first time to demand equal religious rights and protest against pressures. They were happy to express themselves. More than 100,000 Alevis from different provinces came to the capital city to attend the rally. They demanded that the Directorate of Religious Affairs should be dissolved, mosques should not be built in Alevi villages and the Madimak Hotel in the central city of Sivas should be turned into a museum. The rally ended peacefully.
-- "THERE SHOULD BE ALEVI GENERALS"
Ali Balkiz, chairman of the Alevi Bektasi Federation, said during the rally in Ankara, "there is no real secularism in Turkey. Therefore, we did not attend rallies in which people chanted slogans that Turkey was secular and would remain as such." Balkiz added that compulsory religious classes in schools should be cancelled and discrimination should end. "Alevis want to be generals and governors..." he added.

-- TURKEY COMMEMORATES ATATURK
Ataturk, commander of Turkey's war for independence and the founder of our republic, will be commemorated with special programs throughout the country, on the 70th anniversary of his passing. Symposiums, conferences, and movie screenings will be held on the anniversary of Ataturk’s death; his views are portrayed in different dimensions in a recent film "Mustafa".
-- TERRORISTS SURROUNDED
PKK terrorists attacked a military station in Cayirli on Sunday morning. Three soldiers were wounded. A military operation backed by helicopters was launched in pursuit of terrorists who are escaping into Iraq.
