Ashes of the "La Diva Turca" of the opera world, one of the biggest sopranos of the era, Leyla Gencer were spread to the Istanbul Strait. Relatives, friends and artists paid farewell to Gencer with white roses and applause.

--USA: VOTER'S WILL IS THE BASIS

Matt Bryza, an official from the U.S. Department of State, commented on Washington's opinion on the closure case filed against Justice and Development Party (AKP).

Bryza said they were neither supporter nor an opponent of the ruling AKP. He also said USA believed that the Turkish voters should determine the country's political future.

--SHE REACHED THE BOSPHORUS

The ashes of Leyla Gencer, one of the greatest divas of the 20th century, were scattered over the Bosphorus, after a ceremony held at Istanbul's Dolmabahce neighborhood on Friday. Gencer's relatives and and many artists attended the ceremony.

--RAPPORTEUR'S VIEW: LAW ON HEADSCARF CANNOT BE ABROGATED

The rapporteur of the Constitutional Court gave an opinion for the refusal of Republican People's Party's (CHP) application demanding the annulment of the law on headscarf.

The rapporteur said in the report that only "procedural review" could be carried out in the applications filed for the annulment of constitutional amendments, no "review on merits" could be conducted.

--FAREWELL PARTY FOR QUEEN

A birthday party was held for Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom at the British Embassy in Ankara. The queen watched a football match played by children who participate in the "street league" project. Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended the match as well.

Temperatures, which has been below the seasonal averages for sometime, will get warmer starting as of Sunday. Warm air wave coming from Africa will rise the temperatures to 30 degrees celsius on Sunday and to 35 degrees celsius in Marmara, Aegean and the Mediterranean as of Monday.

Ashes of Leyla Gencer were brought to off Dolmabahce shores in a wood sarcophagus. As Mozart's Requuiem, Ahmet Adnan Saygun's Yunus Emre Liberetto were performed in the coast, ashes of Gencer and a wreath of white roses was left to the blue waters of the strait.

--GENCER MET WITH BOSPHORUS

The ashes of Leyla Gencer were spread to the Bosphorus from a boat called "Sureyya" yesterday. Columnist Zeynep Oral, who was Gencer's close friend and the writer of a book on her life, and another close friend Melahat Behlil scattered the ashes over the Istanbul Strait.

--QUEEN LEAVES TURKEY

Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and her spouse Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, departed from Turkey, completing their 4-day visit.

The queen bade farewell to President Abdullah Gul yesterday morning. After touring the Museum Villa of Ataturk in the Presidential Palace compound, the queen and her spouse attended the birthday reception held at the British embassy in Ankara as well.

Visit of Queen Elizabeth II of United Kingdom ended on Friday. Birthday of the queen was celebrated in the British Embassy in Ankara. Both Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Republican People's Party (CHP) chairman Deniz Baykal were there. Olcay Baykal, wife of Deniz Baykal, who did not attend the protocols, was with her husband this time.

A ceremony was held to spread the ashes of worldly known soprano Leyla Gencer, called La Diva Turca by the Italians.

As the wind of the strait was spreading her ashes to the sea, a giant orchestra was singing "Yunus Emre" libretto in the coasts of Ortakoy district.

--HEADSCARF REPORT COMPLETED

The rapporteur, who completed his study on the case regarding the amendment lifting the headscarf ban at universities, presented his report to the Constitutional Court yesterday.

Rapporteur Osman Can, asked for the refusal of the case filed by the Republican People's Party for the annulment of the constitutional amendment on the issue.

--USA'S ALLUSIVE REACTION TO CLOSURE

U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Matt Bryza said USA had no hidden message regarding the closure case filed against ruling AKP.

Bryza said USA supported democracy, adding that Turkish voters should determine Turkey's future.
