--BIG DETENTION TO SWINE FLU
Swine flu, which has claimed 72 lives in 37 countries, has reached Turkey. The virus was detected on an Iraqi origin U.S. citizen who traveled to Istanbul via Amsterdam. The infected person's family was also quarantined for treatment. Turkish Health Ministry took a wide spread measure as a precaution.

--NEIGHBORS SUPPORT EACH OTHER AT EUROVISION
Neighboring relations among countries emerged as a distinctive factor in the 54th Eurovision Song Contest. Neighboring countries gave the top points to each other, while Norway, the winner of the contest, got high points from majority of the 42 participating countries.

--WHAT KIND OF ISOLATION IS THIS?
Iraqi origin Sarkat Salman Ali, who came to Istanbul from Amsterdam together with his 5-member family, was quarantined in an Infection Diseases Clinic after he was detected of having symptoms of swine flu. There was only barrier tape outside the clinic and citizens entering the clinic were not wearing masks. Prof. Recep Ozturk, chairman of the Infection Diseases Department, said the patient was placed into a special isolation treatment room. The same virus was detected in mother of the patient.

--CLASH IN ERUH: 7 TERRORISTS DEAD
Seven terrorists, two of them women, were killed in a clash between the terrorists and security forces in Eruh town of southeastern province of Siirt. A village guard died in the clash.

--FIRST CASE, INTENSIVE MEASURES
Swine flu has been detected on an Iraqi origin U.S. citizen woman and her son who arrived in Istanbul from the U.S. to transfer to a flight to Iraq. The family was isolated immediately to protect other individuals at the airport. Other passengers are being given preventive medicine.

--SUMMIT OF SOLIDARITY
Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan met with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in Sochi. "There are steps we should take in solidarity for the tranquility and the happiness of the region," Erdogan said. Putin expressed the readiness of both Turkey and Russia over the Upper Karabakh issue.

--SWINE FLU IN TURKEY
Setting up thermal cameras at airports worked in Turkey for the first time. Swine flu was detected in three members of the same family who traveled from U.S. to Istanbul. S.S.A, who was traveling from the U.S. to Iraq via Amsterdam, arrived in Istanbul aboard a KLM flight on Thursday. Thermal cameras at Ataturk Airport detected that the passenger had a high fever and a series of tests confirmed the passenger had contracted the swine flu virus. It has been revealed that the passenger's spouse and mother were also carrying the virus.

--"I REPRESENTED MY COUNTRY VERY WELL," HADISE
Turkish singer Hadise received 177 points and ranked fourth in the Eurovision Song Contest. Norway won the contest with 387 points. After the contest, Hadise said that she did her best and represented Turkey very well.

--FEARS CAME TRUE, SWINE FLU DETECTED
Thermal cameras detected high fever in an Iraqi origin U.S. citizen, identified only as  S.S.A., at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport. S.S.A was on his way to Iraq together with his 5-member family. Swine flu was detected in S.S.A and his mother after tests were conducted. The family was taken into quarantine and is receiving treatment in Haseki Hospital. The patients were reported to be in good health.

--IPEK SENOGLU LOOKS FOR SUPPORT
Ipek Senoglu, one of the very important names of Turkish tennis world, became the first Turkish tennis player taking place at the main chart in Roland Garros. Senoglu will be the first tennis player struggling on the clay courts of France. Senoglu said hoisting Turkish flag was her goal, adding that, "I don't have a sponsor. I am attending the grand slam on a bank loan. I graduated from two universities, I would be more successful if I had sponsorship."

--SWINE FLU DETECTED AT AIRPORT
Comprehensive measures taken throughout the country have been successful, with thermal cameras at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport detecting high fever in a passenger. The Iraqi origin U.S. male citizen, identified only as S.S.A., landed at Ataturk Airport on May 14 to travel to Iraq. Thermal cameras detected high fever in S.S.A. and tests run by national flu laboratories showed that the passenger was carrying the "Influenza A/H1N1" virus. S.S.A and the 6-member family were quarantined immediately.

--CINDORUK BECOMES CHAIRMAN OF DP
Husamettin Cindoruk became the chairman of Democrat Party, or DP, at the general convention. Cindoruk attended the convention as the only candidate after withdrawal of Mehmet Ali Bayar and Suleyman Soylu.

--SWINE FLU CAUGHT AT CUSTOMS
Swine flu virus has arrived in Turkey. However, due to the swift measures taken, two U.S. passengers carrying the virus were detected immediately after they landed at the airport and were placed in quarantine.

--KARABAKH MESSAGE FROM SOCHI
Turkish and Russian prime ministers, who met at the Russian resort town of Sochi, said that they were ready to do anything necessary for Karabakh. Important messages were revealed during Turkish Premier Tayyip Erdogan's one-day visit to Russia. Erdogan said during his talks that Turkey and Russia should take steps on regional matters including the Karabakh issue. Russian Premier Vladimir Putin also expressed the two countries' desire for the rapid solution of the situation in Karabakh.
