-- ERDOGAN GOES FOR CONCORD
Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan will have important talks in Azerbaijan to restore relations after meeting between Turkey and Armenia. Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, State Minister for foreign trade Zafer Caglayan, Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim, Energy Minister Taner Yildiz and Culture and Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay are accompanying Erdogan during his visit to Baku.

-- FIRST DEPOSIT BOX OPENED
Prosecutor Zekeriya Oz, who is in charge of the Ergenekon probe, handed a list containing 143 names to the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency in March and asked how many safety deposit boxes were rented in banks by those individuals listed. The agency sent the information to Oz. The prosecutors ordered police in five provinces to open the safety deposit boxes. Firstly, the two safes belonging to researcher Erhan Goksel were opened under the supervision of his lawyer and his wife. One of the boxes was empty; the other contained title deeds registered to the Goksel couple.

-- LAST CALL FOR CUP
The Fortis Turkey Cup will be lifted by its owner in the western province of Izmir today. Bunyamin Gezer will referee the soccer game to be played between Fenerbahce, who has not won the competition in 26 years, and Besiktas at Izmir Ataturk Stadium at 8:00 p.m.

-- HADISE IN FINAL
Hadise, who is representing Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest, was qualified for the final that will take place in Moscow on May 16. Hadise, who took the stage in the ninth place in last night's semi final, was announced first among the contestants to reach the final. Bosnia-Herzegovina, Israel, Iceland, Portugal, Malta, Armenia, Finland, Sweden and Romania are the other countries that will join her in the final.

-- LAND MINE EXPLOSION IN CUKURCA KILLS ONE SOLDIER
One private was killed when a land mine planted by PKK terrorists exploded in Cukurca town of the southeastern province of Hakkari. Also two soldiers were wounded in the explosion.

-- HADISE IN FINAL IN MOSCOW
Hadise, who is representing Turkey in Eurovision Song Contest with her song "Dum Tek Tek", received a huge round of applause from the 20,000-strong audience for her performance in the semi-final. Turkey was announced first among the contestants to reach the final.

-- SUPPORT FROM PRIME MINISTER TO PRESIDENT GUL
Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan replied to criticisms against statements made by President Abdullah Gul who said, "Good things may happen regarding the Kurdish issue". Erdogan said, "It was a wish made with goodwill. Should have he have spoken negatively?"

-- SORANI DIALECT IN TRT SES
Turkish state-run TRT Ses, which has been broadcasting in the Kirmanci and Zaza dialects of the Kurdish language, initiated preparations to broadcast in Sorani dialect too. The Sorani dialect is spoken mainly in the north of Iraq and Iran.

-- "THEY MADE A BIG HAUL, 900 MLN EUROS"
State Minister and  Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc had used the word "indecent" in connection to those involved in the Deniz Feneri case in Germany. Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) chairman Deniz Baykal said, "They collected 900 million euros in ten years. It is not something perpetrated by a few indecent people."

-- YOUTUBE BAN NOT LIFTED, CASE TO BE TAKEN TO ECHR
Efforts by the Internet Technologies Association to overturn a Youtube ban in Turkey have failed. A Turkish court rejected the association's demands to remove the ban. Executives of the association have decided to take the case to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).

-- TWO-STAGE MOVE
The ruling Justice and Development Party, or AKP’s, efforts to convince the terrorist organization PKK to lay down arms are waning, and the political attitude is not clear. The first phase of the move is social measures such as creating jobs or socializing and isolating high-level executives of the terrorist organization. In the second phase, the AKP will make a democratic move. The government has yet to make clear outlines of the "democratization project" about how far this move would go. Strengthening the Kurdish language and culture will be brought to the fore.

-- MINE BLAST KILLS ONE SOLDIER
A soldier was killed in a blast in Cukurca town of the southeastern province of Hakkari. The blast occurred when the soldier stepped on a landmine planted by the terrorist organization PKK. A lieutenant and another soldier were badly injured in the explosion.

-- SARKOZY AND MERKEL LACK VISION
President Abdullah Gul replied French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel who repeated their opposition to Turkey's EU membership in statements made last week. Gul said, "Various politicians come and go. They say several things due to their lack of vision. We do not take such things into consideration."

-- CALL FOR GOODWILL TO SOLVE KURDISH ISSUE
Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said that they would not let the Kurdish issue be turned into a political crisis. He said, "If everybody exerts efforts to make good things, then good things happen."

-- HADISE OF COURSE IN FINAL!
Hadise, who is representing Turkey in the 54th Eurovision Song Contest, made it through the semi-finals last night to reach the competition’s final.

YENI SAFAK
-- THERE IS "HADISE" IN ENGLAND
English fans, who got angry at Norway's Tom Henning Ovrebo who refereed the Champions League semi-final second leg between Chelsea and Barcelona, decided to protest Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest. English people, who organized for the failure of Norway, decided to support Turkish contestant Hadise. Meanwhile, Hadise gave a good performance in last night's semi-final, and became one of the finalists for the May 16 final.

-- FIRST SUSPICION IN ISTANBUL
A Korean passenger, who flew from Paris to Istanbul on an Air France plane, was placed in quarantine at Haseki Hospital on suspicion of having symptoms consistent with the deadly swine flu, when his body temperature registered 38.7 degrees with thermal cameras.
