--RICE: WE WILL NOT GET INVOLVED IN INTERNAL DISCUSSIONS

United States State Secretary Condoleezza Rice said the United States would not get involved in the internal political developments in Turkey, yet noted that they would continue to support democratic institutions of Turkey, reform, democracy and secular democracy in Turkey.

The Turkish people were extremely enthusiastic when Turkey qualified to semi-finals after defeating Croatian national team on penalties.

The Turkish nation did not sleep till morning. Turks around the world toured the streets waving flags in celebration of the win. Turkey will take on German national team in the semi-finals.

--RICE: RULING AKP REACHED OUT TO THE POOR

U.S. State Secretary Condoleezza Rice said Justice and Development (AKP) has reached out to the poor and rural in Turkey in ways that were not done in the past.

"They have reached out to religious people. And I think the secular democracy in Turkey is important, but it is also important that religious people are a part of the country. And so, we have very good relations with them," she said.

"If Turkey is not given a fair chance to accede to the European Union, we will all pay. We can not have a dividing line at Turkey," Rice said.

The world hailed the Turks, "The team of miracles, the team never gives up" since they were the symbol of Euro 2008 even if they do not win the cup.

Switzerland, Czech Republic, Croatia... Turkish national team's three-match victory became an epic from the United States to Thailand. UEFA President Michel Platini said Turkey was the most colorful team of the tournament.

Swedish TV said, "How many lives do Turks have?"

Italian media answered: "They have seven lives."

The Times said Turks were not a team, but a phenomenon.

--RICE SPEAKS HIGHLY OF RULING AKP

United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice eulogized Turkey's ruling AKP, saying that the AKP reached out to the nation’s Kurdish citizens.

"They have reached out to the poor and rural in Turkey in ways that were not done before. They have reached out religious people," she said.

The world was amazed after Turkish national team defeated Croatian national team. This was the third time that Turkish team won a victory in Euro 2008. Spanish Marca said, "All those are mad."

--MAJOR SUPPORT FROM US TO RULING AKP

U.S. State Secretary Condoleezza Rice, addressing a think-tank organization in New York named Council on Foreign Relations, said she has excellent relations with the ruling AKP.

"They have reached out to the poor and rural in Turkey in ways that were not done before. They have reached out religious people. And I think the secular democracy in Turkey is important, but it is also important that religious people are a part of the country. And so, we have very good relations with them," she said.

--ON THE WAY TO THE CUP

After a victory over Croatia on penalties in Euro 2008 and qualifying to semi-finals, Turkish national football team set their sight on the cup.

Despite injured and suspended players, coach Fatih Terim will change the positions of some of the players within the team line-up. Forward Nihat Kahveci has been the last player to bid farewell to the tournament due to injury. Turks will take on Germans in the semi-final match on Wednesday at 09:45 p.m. (0845 GMT).

--RICE SAYS RESOLVING THE CRISIS IS TURKEY'S BUSINESS

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who addressed the Council on Foreign Relations, said the U.S. should continue to support democratic institutions of Turkey.

Answering a question on the case against ruling AKP, Rice said, "We are not going to get involved in the current discussions in Turkey about the court case, that is a matter for Turkey to resolve. But I do think that we need to continue to speak up for reform in Turkey, for democracy in Turkey, for secular democracy in Turkey."

Three soldiers were injured in a terrorist attack on a military convoy in Siran town of Black Sea province of Gumushane. Deputy Governor of Gumushane Mehmet Demiral said the soldiers were injured in ambush.

Ali Kibar, Executive Board President of Hyundai Assan, said Turkey came to forefront as an important investment center in automotive. Kibar said Turkey would be the investment base after new investment in this sector take effect.
