-- TURKISH SCIENTISTS' BREAKTHROUGH IN MAGNETIC COOLING
Professor Yalcin Elerman and his team from Ankara University have made a discovery in magnetic cooling. Turkish scientists have produced a material that would double 30 percent efficiency in gas compression refrigerators. "It is a breakthrough, it will blaze a trail," Elerman said.

-- TAX CUT TO VARY BY INDUSTRY
The question of if tax cut, especially in automotive industry, would continue is almost clear. Industry and Trade Minister Nihat Ergun said government would discuss support for every industry one by one and added that tax cut rate could be lowered and then extended in some industries. He showed the automotive industry as an example and said, "private consumption tax could be increased to 25 percent from 18 percent and continue for a while more."

A land mine exploded while military convoy was passing in Yuksekova town of the southeastern province of Hakkari. Seven soldiers were slightly injured by pieces of broken glass. Also glasses of several houses were broken due to the explosion.

With a midnight decree, eight governors were drawn to center, and cities of 21 others were changed. Istanbul Security Department Director Celalettin Cerrah learned his appointment to the southern province of Osmaniye as a governor while he was in Spain.

-- WORLD STOCK EXCHANGES HEALING THEIR WOUNDS
The rise is continuing in world's stock exchanges which dropped its total value from $57 trillion to $28.8 trillion due to global economic crisis. As of the end of May, total value of the biggest 47 stock exchanges increased to $37.6 trillion. Istanbul Stock Exchange, or IMKB, became one the most rising stock exchanges of the world, and increased its total value from $99 billion to $155 billion.
-- CERRAH LEARNED HE BECAME GOVERNOR WHILE IN SPAIN
Celalettin Cerrah, who became Director of Istanbul Security Department in 2003, had learned that al Qaeda shed blood in Istanbul the same year while he went abroad to watch the match of national soccer team. Also journalist Hrant Dink was murdered while Cerrah was in the Netherlands. Cerrah, who traveled to Spain two days ago, learned that he was appointed as governor to the southern province of Osmaniye.

-- TURKEY IN BLACK LIST OF PIRACY
Fast growth in Turkish informatics industry has spread to pirated software market and Business Software Alliance, or BSA, which works to develop a legal digital world, took Turkey in the list of nine countries that are the first group to fight pirated copy. Other countries are Brazil, Russia, India, China, Poland, Mexico, Indonesia and Thailand.
