--"MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN IN THE DOLDRUMS FOR 16 MONTHS"

Sevil Ornek, wife of retired Admiral Ozden Ornek, former commander of the Naval Forces who allegedly kept a diary about military coup plots, has said that some circles were trying to defame her husband. "My husband has been in the doldrums for 16 months. We do not deserve it."

"My husband applied to the Chief Prosecutor's Office that there were no such diaries. What more could he do? We are extremely sorry for Sener Eruygur and Hursit Tolon pashas," she added.

--HISTORIC DAY FOR ERGENEKON INDICTMENT

The outline of 2,500-page indictment about 85 suspects who have been detained under the Ergenekon probe is expected to be revealed today. The case will be considered open after the acceptance of the indictment by the court. Then, the public opinion will be able to learn about the content of the indictment.

--SARKOZY FIRST ASKS 'CLOSURE CASE'

French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who hosted "Union for the Mediterranean" summit in Paris, held his first tete-a-tete meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. EU President France's leader Sarkozy had a 40-minute meeting with Erdogan and asked him about the recent situation in the closure case (against Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party), and told him that the 27 EU member states would assume a coherent reaction to the result of the case.

Erdogan also said that he relied on the court, adding that the case was negatively affecting the stability of the country as well as the foreign investments in Turkey.

--IPI HARSHLY REACTS CUSTODY STYLE

International Press Institute (IPI) harshly condemned the fact that journalists were handcuffed and taken into custody and their computers were confiscated within the scope of the Ergenekon operation. The IPI also expressed concerns over the possibility that Taraf newspaper could face legal procedures.

--ERGENEKON'S MEDIA DIARY

The Republican Working Group, formed within the scope of Ergenekon organization, took journalists and media bosses under record "in order to correct their behaviors".

The outline of the indictment regarding the Ergenekon organization will be made public at 11 a.m. The 2,500-page indictment will include the charges of 85 suspects, 48 of whom are detained in prison. There will be an additional indictment regarding people who have been recently arrested.

The documents, found in the Kadikoy branch of the Kemalist Thought Association within the scope of the investigation, indicated that the majority of media was taken under record, columnists were categorized and media bosses were taken under technical surveillance.

--I RELY ON CONSTITUTIONAL COURT DECISION

French President Nicolas Sarkozy asked Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan about the closure case against the ruling AKP during the Union for Mediterranean summit in Paris. Erdogan said he hoped the Constitutional Court would make a decision as soon as possible, and told Sarkozy that he relied on the decision. Sarkozy said that the decision should abide by democracy.

--IRAN APPOINTS AMBASSADOR DURING WAR RUMORS

When allegations that "Israel will hit" are going on, Iran raised the level of its representation in Turkey. Tehran appointed Hussein Pour, the former Iranian consul general in Istanbul, as its new ambassador to Turkey. Iran has not had an ambassador in Ankara for two years.

--FBI STYLE PROTECTION

The secret witnesses of the Ergenekon probe have been kept under "super" protection the likes of which is seen in movies. The outline of the indictment about 85 suspects who were detained under the Ergenekon probe is expected to be revealed today.

The indictment includes depositions of a number of witnesses. Some witnesses were not identified for security reasons; instead, they were ciphered. Under the Witness Protection Law, those witnesses will be given a new identity, they will be able to live either in Turkey or abroad, and they will not attend court hearings. If witness wants, he/she can undergo a surgery and change his/her facial features.

--SARKOZY ASKS ABOUT CLOSURE CASE

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who visited Paris to attend the summit on the Union for Mediterranean, met President Nicolas Sarkozy of France. During the meeting, Sarkozy asked about the closure case against Erdogan's the ruling AKP. Erdogan told Sarkozy, "I trust in the Constitutional Court."

--INDICTMENT DAY

The outline of the Ergenekon indictment, expected by the public opinion for months, will be made public today. Istanbul prosecutors Zekeriya Oz, Mehmet Pekguzel and Nihat Taskin prepared the "Ergenekon" indictment.

Istanbul chief prosecutor Aykut Cengiz Engin and deputy chief prosecutor Turan Colakkadi will hold a press conference at 11 a.m. regarding the indictment. The 2,500-page indictment includes 85 suspects, 48 of whom are being held in custody.

--ONE SOLDIER KILLED IN SILOPI

One private was killed in a clash that occurred between security forces and PKK terrorists in the rural area near Silopi town of the southeastern province of Sirnak. Gendarmerie special teams were sent to the region where serious clashes occurred. Cobra helicopters also pounded the area. Also, five terrorists were killed in clashes in Sirnak and Tunceli.

--VISIT US TOO SARKOZY

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was called and personally invited by French President Nicolas Sarkozy, attended the "Union for the Mediterranean" summit. Prior to the summit, Sarkozy hosted Erdogan at Elysee Palace. Erdogan warned Sarkozy that France should be loyal to its commitments regarding EU membership negotiations. Erdogan also invited Sarkozy to Turkey.

--THEY ASKED HIM TO BE INVOLVED IN ATTACK

A person named Dursun Patan was arrested for "being member of terrorist organization" regarding the attack which was staged on the U.S. Consulate General in Istanbul. Patan claimed, "Erkan Kargin, who was killed in the clash, told me that they would stage an attack and take hostages. He asked me to get involved in the attack. I did not accept it." A police investigation is underway in the Kucukcekmece district of Istanbul.

--AWAITED DAY IN ERGENEKON INVESTIGATION

The outline of the indictment regarding the Ergenekon investigation will be made public today. It will reveal assassinations, bloody attacks, and the anatomy of a terrorist organization that was planning to push the country into chaos.

The indictment, prepared in 13 months, consists of 2,500 pages and 40 chapters. It covers many bloody attacks including the attack on the Council of State and the killing of Hrant Dink.

The scheme of the organization was revealed with information given by 20 secret witnesses who were sent abroad for security reasons.

Under the "acts that would cause chaos" chapter, the indictment talks about the assassination attempts of Osman Gurbuz, claimed to have killed Hablemitoglu, and retired colonel Atilla Uygur against judicial personnel.

--I HOPE COURT WOULD NOT DECIDE TO CLOSE PARTY

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan met French President Nicholas Sarkozy before the Union for Mediterranean summit in Paris. Erdogan asked the European Union (EU) to keep its promises, and voiced his expectations about Turkey-EU negotiations. Sarkozy assured Erdogan that he would keep the commitments.

On the closure case against the ruling AKP, Sarkozy said that the EU expected the court decision to be in line with pluralist democracy and state of law principles.
