-- 7-METER WAVE IN BODRUM
Centennial trees fell over in streets and roads due to strong winds in Bodrum town of western province of Mugla. Giant waves, which reached 7 meters, threw a 32-meter yacht to the land in Kumbahce Bay. The strong winds also damaged the electricity lines which caused Bodrum to stay in dark.

-- 15 MILLION CLICK TO REPORT CARDS
Students in elementary and secondary schools had the excitement of report card yesterday. 15 million people who wanted to see their virtual report cards clicked the internet site of National Education Ministry.

-- ACTOR CAUSES DIPLOMATIC STIR
A Turkish actor caused a diplomatic crisis when he said he killed 10 Greek Cypriots including a prisoner of war during Turkey's 1974 military operation in Cyprus. "I killed ten people during the Cyprus operation in 1974. The first one was a 19 year-old prisoner of war. He spitted on me when I point my gun at him and I shot him right in the head," Atilla Olgac told a televised interview. A spokesman with the Greek Cypriot administration has said the killing of a POW constituted a war crime according to the Geneva Convention. Rıza Turmen, Turkey's former judge at the European Court of Human Rights, also said the act was a war crime, adding that a state can put its own citizen on trial for committing such a crime.

-- MAIN OPPOSITION PARTY NAMES CANDIDATE MAYOR FOR ISTANBUL
Turkey's main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) named Kemal Kilicdaroglu on Friday as its candidate to run for the office of the mayor in Istanbul. Kilicdaroglu, a lawmaker in the parliament, has forced a number of major officials from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) to resign after revealing cases of corruption about them.

The speed of storm reached 110 kilometers, and hit Aegean and Mediterranean regions of Turkey. Six patients were injured when they were trapped under the roof of the hospital collapsed in western province of Mugla due to strong wind. Schools recessed in Datca town of Mugla.       Â

-- DON'T BE INFLUENCED; BE RESISTANT
When Prof. Leyla Navaro, a Turkish Jew, said that the bill of the war was asked from her as she was Jewish, President Abdullah Gul called her on the phone and said, "those who provoke racism are marginal people. Do not let them influence you. You shall be resistant. Our prime minister is also exerting efforts against these."

-- PALESTINIAN PRESIDENT TELEPHONES TURKISH COUNTERPART
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas telephoned his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul on Friday. Abbas briefed Gul about the current humanitarian and the political situation, and he conveyed his views to the Turkish president over the need to form a unity government and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. Gul told Abbas in return that Turkey would continue to exert efforts and its diplomatic attempts to find a viable and a fair solution to the Palestinian problem, expressing the importance of unity and reconciliation among Palestinians.

-- INTELLIGENCE BASE AGAINST PKK
Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said Turkey, Iraq and the United States were planning to set up a command center in Arbil city in the north of Iraq against the terrorist organization PKK. Intelligence officials from the three countries will work together at the center to maintain the border security and remove the PKK threat.

-- TRIPARTITE MECHANISM OFFICE TO BE OPENED IN ARBIL
Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari arrived in Ankara to implement the strategic relations document which was signed during Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Iraq. Officials decided to open an office in Arbil to make tripartite mechanism between Turkey, Iraq and the U.S. functional.

-- PROSECUTORS SAY THIRD INDICTMENT MAY COME IN ERGENEKON CASE
Prosecutors in what is publicly known in Turkey as the Ergenekon case have said that a third indictment might be needed after a recent wave of new arrests as the second indictment was still to be presented to the court. One prosecutor said the vast collection of documents seized during the latest operation might take time to examine, adding that the prosecutor's office might move to draft a third indictment. Eighty-six people, of whom 46 are in prison, have been tried by an Istanbul criminal court under the first indictment.

-- TRILATERAL COMMAND CENTER AGAINST PKK
Turkey is set to launch a joint command center against the terrorist organization PKK in cooperation with the United States and Iraqi government. The command center will be located in Arbil city. The regional administration in Iraq's north will also participate in the center's activities. The effort aims at boost and coordinate intelligence share between Turkey, U.S. and Iraq.

-- FIRST TURKISH GIRL IN GREEK ARMY
Sevcan Sadulla, a 25-year old Turkish girl living in Western Thrace, will start his mission as a professional soldier in Greek army. Sevcan, who is living with her family in Yardimli village in Komotini, said that her parents supported her decision. People, who are accepted as professional soldiers in Greece, sign 5-year contract. The contract of successful personnel is extended.
