--Â NUMBER OF TERRORISTS KILLED IN OPERATION BECOMES 192
Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) which has been continuing a ground operation in the north of Iraq besieged one of the most important camps --Zap-- of terrorist organization. 39 terrorists were killed in clashes in the region on Tuesday and the number of terrorists that have been killed since the first day of the operation became 192. On the other hand, Turkish troops have been following terrorists in Bestler Dereler region near southeastern province of Sirnak.          -- YOK CHAIRMAN EXCEEDS HIS POWER
Devlet Bahceli, chairman of the opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), said Higher Education Board (YOK) chairman exceeded his power with his statement and escalated uneasiness in the community. Bahceli said, "if an approach which says that there is no need to amend article 17 of the law on YOK is adopted, we can face a danger that everyone can wear whatever he/she wants."            Â

The U.S. General Staff expressed "confidence" to Turkish Armed Forces which has been staging a military operation in the north of Iraq. Commenting on the allegations claiming that the operation was carried out upon U.S. approval, Gen. Carter Hamm from the U.S. General Staff said that the Turkish army would not get permission from USA. Meanwhile, Nicholas Burns, the U.S. Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs, said that the Iraqi Kurdish leaders should undertake responsibility against the terrorist organization PKK.         --  CHAOS CONTINUES IN UNIVERSITIES
The uncertainty that arose after the constitutional amendment on headscarf issue continued in universities yesterday. While some of the universities carry on with implementing the headscarf ban, some let students with headscarves attend classes. Many universities declared that they would continue to implement the ban  until an arrangement is made in Higher Board of Education (YOK) Law.       Â

-- BLIZZARD SLOWS DOWN OPERATION "GUNES"
General Staff again made a statement on the 6th day of its operation "Gunes" (Sun) in north of Iraq. The statement said heavy snowfall partially slowed down the manoeuvres. General Staff said two more soldiers died, noting that number of terrorists that were killed could not be assessed because of winter conditions.        Â
-- ALL OF THEM BECAME WAR VETERANS
An article has been added to the Social Security Reform yesterday (Tuesday) that is debated in Parliamentary Commission. This article said the parliamentarians would not pay the contribution share in health expenses. Only the war veterans, who got wounded in operations, do not pay this contribution share. Under the article, all citizens will be obliged to pay contribution share, ranging between 1 and 20 percent in health expenses, however, on the other hand, parliamentarians will not pay any contribution share like the war veterans.

Heavy snowfall hampered the cross-border operation on the 5th day. The troops carried out land search and reinforcement throughout the day. Terrorists opened harassment gunfire by long-ranged weapons. Two more soldiers were martyred. Devlet Bahceli, the chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP),  put pressure on Justice & Development (AK) Party which entered a tendency to give up amendment to Higher Education Board (YOK) Law. Bahceli said, "AK Party acts as if the compromise does not exist. According to our understanding of politics, the compromises we have reached are the certificates of our honor. We want to believe that our political interlocutors, who we have made commitments, have the same honor and virtue."   Â

--Â TWO MORE TURKISH SOLDIERS DIE
Two more Turkish soldiers died in the ground operation by Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) against terrorist organization PKK on Tuesday. F-16 jets shelled camps of terrorist organization in the north of Iraq. Terrorist organization has suffered great loss, it was reported.         -- SIX MORE ARRESTEES IN "ERGENEKON" INVESTIGATION
Six people including associate professor Emin Gurses and ıstanbul University Forensic Medicine Institute lecturer associate professor Umit Sayin were arrested within the scope of an operation against "Ergenekon" terrorist organization.

-- TURKISH STYLE PROBLEM-SOLVINGThe legal uncertainty regarding the headscarf issue caused serious difficulties at universities. Both rectors accepting the students wearing headscarves to universities and rectors not letting them attend classes are to blame according to the opposing party. Some students with headscarves are getting prepared to take legal action. Meanwhile, the Interuniversity Board (UAK), whose opinion on the issue is different from YOK's view, will convene on February 28th.        -- TWO MORE MARTYRS ON OPERATION'S 5TH DAYTwo more Turkish soldiers died on the fifth day of the cross-border operation waged by Turkish Armed Forces in the north of Iraq. Faces smile in universities who lifted the headscarf ban, which was implemented in universities for long years although it does not exist in laws. Some rectors insist on not opening the doors to freedom despite the Constitution. Around 20 universities, including Bogazici, Bilkent and KTU, said there was not headscarf ban. Students those wearing headscarf and those who do not were at the same classes now.     -- DEPORTATION FROM BRITAIN TO PKK'S CASH BOXBritish intelligence agency M15 deported Selman Bozkur, the "safety box" of the terrorist PKK organization in London.
