-- CLUES OF MURDERER IN THE COMPUTER
Although 13 days passed since the killing of Engin Temel, one of the partners of a famous gay club Love Bar, mystery over the incident is still not clarified. Police stay hopeful about private video footages in the computer.

-- 17 OF WORLD'S BEST 100 HOTELS IN TURKEY
One of the biggest tour operators in the world, TUI, announced that 17 of the world's best 100 hotels are in Turkey based on customer satisfaction. 15 of the 17 hotels are in the southern province of Antalya while the other two are in the Aegean region.

-- TURKISH OLIVES TO BE PROMOTED GLOBALLY
Olive and olive oil producer Marmarabirlik announced that it will participate in all food fairs in the world in 2009. The President of the Executive Board of Marmarabirlik Refi Taviloglu said that they wanted to make Turkish olives a world brand. "We must work with the Turkish government hand in hand in order to promote Turkish olives worldwide," Taviloglu stressed.

Turkey will be under the influence of cold weather wave which will come from Balkans as of the beginning of the week. Temperatures will drop 3-5 degrees Celsius across the country. Rain will turn into snow in inner and eastern parts. Snow will be influential especially in eastern regions.

Washington Post recommended Barack Obama --who was announced to visit a country having Muslim population-- to see Indonesia's capital city Jakarta or Istanbul city of Turkey.

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Izmir deputy Canan Aritman --who caused debates because of her statements about President Abdullah Gul regarding the online apology campaign for the events of 1915-- said that people were trying to punish and silence her.

-- BYE BYE BUSH MODEL RECEIVES ORDERS OF FOUR YEARS
The manufacturer of shoes that were recently thrown at U.S. President George W. Bush in Iraq by an Iraqi journalist said that his company received orders for the same model for the next four years. "We named that model 'Bye Bye Bush' and received orders for 300,000 pairs. This amount is four times bigger than our ordinary annual sales," told Ramazan Baydan.

-- ANTI-SMOKING PILLS CAUSE SUICIDES, HEALTH MINISTRY WARNS
Turkish Ministry of Health sent a letter of warning to Turkish doctors and pharmacies on "Champix" pills that are consumed by individuals trying to stop smoking. The ministry stressed that these pills cause depression and feelings that may result in suicide by the patients.

-- GOKCEK MAY NOT BE AKP'S CANDIDATE IN ANKARA
The current Mayor of Ankara, Melih Gokcek, may face difficulty in becoming the mayoral candidate of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) at the upcoming local elections based on surveys conducted by the AKP and criticisms made against him in the party. Turkish Premier and Chairman of the AKP Tayyip Erdogan will meet with Ankara deputies at the beginning of next week and listen to these deputies on what they think about Gokcek. Only then will Erdogan announce his decision on Gokcek.

-- 2009 IS LAST CHANCE IN CYPRUS, U.N. OFFICIAL
Alexander Downer, the special adviser of the U.N. Secretary General on Cyprus, said that "2009 is the last chance in Cyprus". If a solution was not found in Cyprus in 2009, the U.N. would withdraw itself from the solution process, told Downer to Ankara.

According to results of two researches, 13.40 percent of Turkey's population is Kurdish. The world's biggest Kurdish city is Istanbul with nearly 2 million Kurdish people.

-- DEATH IN TUZLA AGAIN
Procida ship in Anadolu Shipyard (in Tuzla shipyards zone in Istanbul) have become a grave of two workers. Worker Erdal Inceyol died in an accident on December 13, and then worker Hizir Akbulut got burned and died on December 19.

-- LAST SOCCER CARNIVAL OF 2008
All hearts in Turkey will beat fast as of 1900 hours on Sunday. Galatasaray and Besiktas soccer teams will compete against each other at a derby game in Istanbul tonight. The match will take place at Istanbul's Ali Sami Yen Stadium. Cuneyt Cakir is the referee of the match. Both teams announced that they want to win tonight's game. All tickets of the game have been sold out days ago.

-- SNOW TO ARRIVE THIS WEEK
Snow is expected in most parts of Turkey this week. A cold weather wave coming from the Balkans will affect much of Turkey, told the weather service. Heavy snowfall will be influential in inner and eastern parts of Turkey as of Tuesday.
