--I DETONATED, AND WATCHED IT
It was revealed that the murderer of 17 people and an unborn child in Gungoren bombing in Istanbul is a member of PKK terrorist organization. Huseyin Tureli, who was captured and also claimed to be the bomber, told police, "I detonated the bomb with cell phone; and I, together with five of my friends, watched what was going on."
--SITUATION IS VERY BAD
Forest fire, which started in Manavgat town of southern province of Antalya on Thursday, was partially taken under control yesterday when wind slowed down. Forestry Minister Veysel Eroglu said that 3,500-4,000 hectares burned. 59 houses burned down. One person was killed and another one is reported to be missing.

--SUSPECTS IN DOUBLE ISTANBUL BOMBING ARRESTED
Eight suspects in last Sunday's double bombings in Istanbul, which killed 17 people, have been arrested. Huseyin Tureli, one of the suspects, was said to have come to Turkey three months ago from Mount Qandil in the Iraq's north and masterminded the attacks. It was also revealed that the suspects were responsible for an earlier bombing in Istanbul's Beylikduzu district. It is ceratin that the terrorist organization PKK was behind the double bombings.
--OPPOSITION LEADER UNDERGOES ANGIOPLASTY
Leader of the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Deniz Baykal had a coronary angiogram and a stent implantation on Saturday in Ankara's Hacettepe University hospital. Baykal was discharged from the hospital later in the day. "I feel very well and I have a very busy schedule for tomorrow," Baykal told reporters after the procedure. Also Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke Baykal on the phone and wished quick recovery.

Suspects of the massacre, which killed 17 people in Gungoren neighborhood of Istanbul, were captured. Eight people including three watchmen and a bomber were arrested. Interior Minister Besir Atalay said that PKK terrorist organization claimed the responsibility of the attack.
--OUR 60 YEARS BURNED
60-year old trees burned down in the fire which could not be stopped due to strong wind in southern province of Antalya. The damage is 1 billion YTL. Forestry Minister Veysel Eroglu said that 4,000 hectares of productive area and 59 houses burned. He said that bones were found in the house of Ali Deniz who was reported to be missing in Karatas village.

--BAYKAL UNDERGOES ANGIOGRAM
Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) chairman Deniz Baykal, who is 70 years old, went to Hacettepe University Medical Faculty for routine controls yesterday. Cardiologist Prof. Ali Oto applied coronary angiogram on Baykal. He was discharged from the hospital in the afternoon. President Abdullah Gul, Parliament Speaker Koksal Toptan and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan called Baykal on the phone and wished rapid recovery.
--FAREWELL TO YAGMURDERELI
Justice and Development Party (AKP) Istanbul parliamentarian and producer Osman Yagmurdereli was defeated by cancer at the age of 55. Yagmurdereli was taken to hospital due to an infection on July 11. His heart stopped at 2:00 a.m. on Saturday. He will be laid to rest in Istanbul today.

--TURKEY'S SOUTHERN PROVINCE YIELDS TO HUGE FOREST BLAZE
Forest fires have been raging the southern province of Antalya for the last four days, killing at least one person and burning down more than 10,000 hectares of pine forest. The fires have partially been taken under control but fire fighters were concerned that wind might get stronger again.

Interior Minister Besir Atalay said Saturday that police have solved last Sunday's double bombings which killed 17 people in Istanbul. Atalay said all the suspects in the attack had been detained. "The attack is the work of the PKK", he said. An Istanbul court arrested the 8 suspects and sent them to jail.

--THREE DAYS WHICH BURNED ANTALYA
The biggest forest fire of its history blackened the capital of tourism Antalya. The fire, which started in Manavgat town and still could not be taken under control on its third day, burned 10,000 hectares in an area by Serik town. Forestry Minister Veysel Eroglu said that 3,500-4,000 hectares of fertile forests burned.

Eight of ten suspects were arrested in the investigation which was launched for the double bombings in Gungoren neighborhood of Istanbul. Interior Minister Besir Atalay said that they illuminated the attacks, adding that the attacks were staged by separatist organization.

Environment Minister Veysel Eroglu said that strong winds tore off electricity lines and caused fire to break out in southern province of Antalya. One person was killed in the fire. It is spreading towards central Manavgat town. Villages which are under danger are being evacuated.
