ESKİŞEHİR - Executives of the Viessmann group of companies, one of the leading international manufacturers of heating systems, have paid a visit to the Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce, or ETO, Wednesday, seeking investment opportunities.
Turkey is among the countries Viessmann implements the most exports to, said Gerhard Bastet, Viessmann operating manager.
"Viessmann has a philosophy, such as producing in the countries that import the most from the company. We have walked around Eskişehir for a few hours. We saw so many Viessmann ads that we were surprised," he said. "We are planning to establish a boiler factory in Turkey. We are currently conducting feasibility studies. We have so far visited Bursa, Gemlik, Manisa and Eskişehir. Depending on our report, the company will decide where to build the factory. Eskişehir seems to have a bigger chance in grabbing this deal," said Bastet.
Harun Karacan, ETO president, and the German delegate lead by Bastet visited the organized industry zone, where this boiler factory could be constructed.
Lately, Eskişehir has become the shining star of the country, said Karacan. "This visit will give the Viessmann delegate a chance to get to know our trade and industry," he added. "Viessmann’s plans to invest in Eskişehir make us proud. We suspect it will be a great contribution to the city’s economy."
When asked about the high speed train that would provide transportation between Istanbul and Eskişehir, Karacan said that the line would be operational before the factory’s construction would be finalized. Viessmann, which was founded in 1917, maintains 16 factories in Germany, France, Canada, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland and China, sales organizations in 37 countries, plus 120 branch sales offices worldwide. Exports account for 60 percent of the turnover, according to company’s Web site.
