KUŞADASI - A sea park in the popular resort town of Kuşadası is offering visitors a chance to leave with a pearl necklace, if they dare to swim in a pool full of sharks.
Adaland Sea Park, one of the five interactive sea parks in the world, has become a popular spot for those who want to see ocean creatures and swim with dolphins. The most thrilling adventure the park offers is getting a pearl in a pool full of sharks.
Visitors can dive in a steel cage in the pool to observe sharks. A giant oyster, full of oysters with pearls, is located on top of a column in the middle of the pool. Those who have the courage can swim through the sharks and try to get a real pearl. If they can, a pearl necklace is made and presented to the visitor.
"The oysters have five different colors of pearls," Fahri Alem Günaydın, a manager of the sea park. "The white represents wisdom, cream represents success, peach represents health, purple represents richness and black represents love."
A Dutch couple, Evelyn Krugten and Pruscilla Bragt, said they were delighted with the experience and would keep their pearl necklaces for a lifetime.
Adaland hosts over 6,000 fish in some 40 different species, including emperor fish, various deep ocean fish, sharks and dolphins. Günaydın said it was like "the oceans kept in pools."
"We are happy to be one of the interactive five sea parks of the world where visitors can take part in various activities," he said. "The species of fish that one must sometimes search for days to see in an ocean are right here in front of their eyes." Adaland Sea Park is an interactive aquarium park, the first in Europe and Turkey.
Dolphin reef, shark reef, stingray pool and the coral reef are the pool aquariums that give visitors the opportunity to swim with thousands of different species of sea animals. Swimming with dolphins, cage-diving to the sharks, touching and petting the rays are some of the activities.
There is also a salt water children’s pool, a fresh water pond, a 300-meter river and fresh water aquariums. The children’s pool fresh water pond and river is a section without fish.
