A Turkish captain, serving in the Kosovo Peace Force, was exposed to an armed attack of 4 German soldiers last Saturday. Even though he was beaten with truncheons, he did not give up his gun.Four German soldiers attacked Captain Orkun Ozeller, working in the Turkish Peace Battalion affiliated to KFOR. The Turkish captain had the right to go out of brigade area because he was working under the Civilian-Military Cooperation (SAIB) within KFOR. The attack to the Turkish soldier also irritated the people of Prizren. The attack happened on Saturday at about 22.30. When Captain Ozeller was returning to his Battalion, two German soldiers stopped him in Sadirvan. They asked Ozeller why he was out of his battalion, and Ozeller said that he was affiliated to SAIB and he showed his rank. However the German soldiers attempted to detain the Turkish captain by using force. Captain Ozeller resisted and the German soldiers called additional forces. Two further German soldiers came and together they tried to grab the gun of Captain Ozeller. Upon the resistance of Ozeller, the German soldiers started to beat him with truncheons. In the quarrel, the uniform of the Turkish captain was torn. Meanwhile, the residents of Prizren came to the site and tried to stop the German soldiers. Upon the resistance of the public, the German soldiers had to take shelter in a nearby church. Captain Ozeller informed his battalion commander of the incident and then went to Prizren State Hospital. Doctors gave a report to the Captain that he could not work for three days. In case of the possible scenarios by the Germans the Captain also take a report stating that he was not drunk at the time of the incident.Following the incident, the German Brigade Commander and Turkish Battalion Commander came together. The German commander voiced his regrets about the incident and asked from the Turkish commander not to exaggerate the incident.Â
