Another story of an unfulfilled marriage marks death by terror, as details about the lives of some of the soldiers killed in this week's clashes near Sirnak start to emerge. Gendarme Commander Murat Tutal was one of a team of Turkish security forces which encountered a large group of armed PKK terrorists on Gabar Mountain two days ago.
Participating in an all night clash with the PKK group, Tutal fought until he was his by a bullet which ended his life. His parents,
Fetih and Halime Tutal from Mersin told reporters that Murat was supposed to be married in 3 months to his fiancee, Zakiye Akyel. Fetih Tutal said that he had last spoken to his son 2 nights ago by telephone, explaining: "We were worried, because of all the terror incidents. But as always, he tried to calm us, saying 'Don't worry for me.' He was supposed to have a wedding in 3 months, but fate did not wish it. We condemn terror. But our condemnation is not enough. The government must find a solution to this. There is nothing else to say. Thanks to the nation. (Vatan sag olsun-this is an expression used by the families of soldiers fallen in the line of duty.)"
