Gazing at the ’Backyard’

"The world that we are living in, or the house, has two doors, one which opens to the front and the other that opens to the backyard." Birsel provides an answer to the questions: what is our backyard and what happens there, in his latest exhibition. For that he presents three main works that are related to each other. Birsel said, "This exhibition is part of my research from last year. It starts with an idea, ’Cabinet,’ and develops by using the state of mind people enter into by gazing through a window from the inside to the outside." Selim Birsel has also produced a catalogue for the "Backyard" exhibition, containing documentation of his work and his writings from between 2002 to 2008.
