Invited by Rahmi Koç for Koç University’s graduation ceremony, Ford also had the opportunity to visit both Istanbul and the Ford Factory in Kocaeli during his three day trip.

This is how he answered our questions about the fluctuation in the Turkish economy, his relationship with the Koç family, factories in Turkey and investment plans for the future.

H:Ford is one of the highest selling brands in Turkey. How would you describe the effect of the recent fluctuation in the Turkish economy?

“We have a tremendous sales network here in Turkey. In this respect, we are extremely satisfied with Ford Otosan. I am of the opinion that the fluctuation in the Turkish economy will be short-lived. Automotive sales will resume. Huge efforts are being made by the Ford Otosan team, who do not want the devaluation to reflect on the consumer.

Plans for new investments

Are you considering making any new investments in Turkey?

“We at Ford never say ‘never’. We have really expanded the factory in Kocaeli. When I look back, I realise that this will happen again. We are expanding this partnership at great speed, and there is no reason why we should not consider new investments.”
