ISTANBUL - French filmmaker Michel Gondry’s 2008 movie "Be Kind Rewind" will be screened for free at 12 universities and four high schools as part of the 28th International Istanbul Film Festival.

The screenings, which will continue until Apr. 2, started yesterday at the Üsküdar American High School, as part of the festival’s "We are in Schools Before the Festival" program. A discussion will be held on Mar. 18 at Bosphorus University’s Mithat Alam Film Center with festival director Azize Tan, who will provide information about the films in the festival and answer students’ questions.

’Be Kind Rewind’

"Be Kind Rewind," starring Jack Black, Mos Def, Mia Farrow, Danny Glover, tells the story of a man whose body becomes magnetized and accidentally erases every tape in his friend's video store. In order to satisfy the store's most loyal renter, an aging woman exhibiting signs of dementia, the two friends set out to remake the lost films on their own.

The 28th International Istanbul Film Festival, which will take place Apr. 4 to 19, is organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, or IKSV, with sponsorship from Akbank. "Be Kind Rewind" is being brought to the screen with the contributions of Tiglon.

Besides the Bosphorus University, the film sreenings will be held at Yeditepe, Doğuş, Kadir Has, Galatasaray, Istanbul, Istanbul Technical, Kültür, Sabancı, Koç, Marmara and Maltepe universities, and Robert College, Istanbul and Galatasara high school.
