ISTANBUL - The Galata Fashion Week event, previously held in the Galata district of Istanbul, will be organized in the newly hip Akaretler neighborhood of Beşiktaş this year.
Akaretler went through a major transformation in 2007 and is now home to many fashionable stores and restaurants. The fashion week events, which began yesterday, will continue for four days. Famous designers are already displaying their clothing in stands placed in the neighborhood’s streets.
This year, the work of famous decorators and interior designers is being displayed alongside that of the fashion designers. The stands open at 10 a.m. and stay open until 10 p.m. The event also features live music and DJ performances at the nearby W Hotel.
Thirty-two prominent names in the design world are featured at the event and the famous Portuguese designer Fatima Lopes will also be visiting the fashion fair today.
