ISTANBUL - The 13th International Istanbul Fashion Fair opened its doors to thousands of visitors and hundreds of fashion exhibitors yesterday.
The fashion fair's opening ceremony was attended by Chairman of Fashion and Ready-to-Wear Federation Kahraman Öztürk, Chairman of the Fairs Federation Ercan Tan and Chairman of CNR Holding Board Ceyda Erem.
’Move on’
Öztürk said people should put the crisis aside and continue producing. "Ready-to-wear and the fashion industry are not suffering as much as other industries. Everybody can work in good conditions but the important thing is to give a good performance during crises too. That is where success lies," said Öztürk.
According to Öztürk, companies should consider attending fairs despite the crisis. The fair hosts 300 customers from Italy, India, Hong Kong, Tunisia, Sweden, Romania, Russia, Palestine, Greece and Israel. There are 65 foreign firms visiting the fair this year. European countries visit the fair not only because it is a common meeting place for international fashion brands but also because it is easy to fly to Istanbul. Turkey is more popular than China among European customers this year, Öztürk added.
Domestic companies from the cities of Aydın, Adana, Kütahya, Manisa, İzmir, Ankara and Konya will also participate in the fair. The fair will continue until Saturday evening.
