ISTANBUL - A selection of German films that premiered within the last year will be screened at Istanbul Modern Cinema, in collaboration with Goethe-Institut Istanbul, from June 25 to 28.

First seen by critics and audiences at many festivals, the program of eight movies is titled "Everything’s OK." The name is ironic, because what almost all the films have in common - whether they reflect on the past or the present, whether they tell a personal story or a universal one - is that they draw attention to things that are not so OK.

The four-day program includes screenings of Andreas Dresen’s "Cloud 9," a striking film shot without a written script, with dialogue improvised by the actors; Max F?rberböck’s "Anonyma - A Woman in Berlin," a movie based on the memoirs of a female writer who remained anonymous until her death; Christian Petzold’s "Jerichow," which tells a story that takes place between three people; Lars Jessen’s "Dorfpunks," the tale of 17-year-old Malte Ahrens’ meeting with punk-rock music; Jan Krüger’s "Light Gradient," featuring the journey of two young men; Sebastian Schippe’s "Sometime In August," in which lovers Thomas and Hanna arrive at the new country house to spend the summer; Nicolette Krebitz’s "The Heart is a Dark Forest," the story of a woman who learns that her husband is leading a secret life; and Oskar Roehler’s "Lulu & Jimi," a love story that knows no boundaries.
