ISTANBUL - A project titled "Culture Ant," carried out by the Cultural Awareness Foundation, has been awarded the European Union’s Europa Nostra Cultural Heritage Prize.
A written statement made by the foundation said the project was seen worthy of the award in the category of "sensitivity for cultural heritage and awareness education." The award will be presented June 5 at a ceremony in Sicily. A local award ceremony will be held in June in Istanbul with the participation of top Europa Nostra officials. The project, aiming to increase sensitivity to cultural heritage and create city culture awareness, has been carried out since 2002 as an education model for children between the ages of 11 and 13.

"The project, which is carried out jointly by volunteer students living in cities that recently receive migrations and the ones living in more developed environments, contributes to the adaptation and preservation of cultural values as well as provide social peace and intercultural dialogue," said the statement, adding the award will enable this unique education model to be known all over the world.
