I am unhappy with the decision taken to go ahead with the closure lawsuit against the AKP. Above all else, I am very concerned. I wasn’t happy either when the lawsuit was filed demanding the Welfare Party’s closure, and I had written frankly about this during those days.
I also can’t accept the closure of pro-Kurdish parties. So, what did I feel when I learned that the Constitutional Court had accepted the lawsuit unanimously?

I was saddened.
But I found something to balance my sadness.
First: The acceptance of the lawsuit doesn’t mean that AKP will definitely be closed. It can decide either way.
Second: I don’t believe that the judges already have any outright decisions on the case. They will investigate the charges and then make their decision.
Three: In my opinion, the reactions of those involved throughout the process will effect the outcome of the case.
Four: I believe this case is one of the most important cases in our political history.

Then...
If we want our country’s salvation, we should look at how we can turn this process into a situation that works in our country’s favor.
Let me state this more clearly.
Our country has been dangerously polarized.
This polarization is tremendously damaging. But it is also a defining opportunity to reach mutual agreement for the future.
Prime Minister Tayyip Erdodan can use this process to kick start a policy that creates confidence and embraces everybody in society, not listening to those fanatics who provoke him to seek revenge.
I believe such a new policy could also be very influential on the courts.

The prime minister should be aware that:
Not all those who disagree with him and openly criticize him are in favor of a coup.
He will gain a greater understanding of the meaning of my thoughts on this case as the process unfolds, rectifying the mistakes made following July 22, and creating a situation that gives assurances of secularism.
