Lecturer of Economy in the Faculty of Economy and Management Studies at Anatolian University, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Şahin, has set aside web space for erotic photographs of models and pin-ups on his self-named internet website, www.mehmetsahin.net.
Apart from erotic photography, the site also features lessons, coursework and coursework descriptions, as well as academic research. Stating that his intention was to draw the attention of 18-23 year-olds to the site with the help of the photographs, he said, “I am a lecturer in information systems in the Department of Management and Organisation of the Faculty. Students entering the site can access information, lesson hand-outs, and scientific research. They can also learn how to create a website. This is the first interactive learning web-site in Turkey.”
Photographs removed from website
Prof. Şahin told that “the photographs were all taken from Turkish newspapers and and websites. I have heard from my students that they thought it was a good idea. Some have even advised it to other members of teaching staff, as a good learning incentive.” The photographs were removed from the website after the interview with Professor Şahin.
