With Bucharest in the throes of a political crisis sparked by the resignation of certain ministers from the government, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was supposed to fly from Ankara to the Romanian capital tonight for a 2 day official visit, has postponed his program.

With the Romanian postponement confirmed, Ankara is also waiting to find out the schedule for Brussels, which will be hosting a 2 day EU leaders summit on December 14-15. Though Ankara's Prime Ministerial offices have noted that candidate countries have not been invited to the summit, Erdogan has noted that he may be heading to Brussels to engage in face to face talks with certain EU leaders at that time. At the current time however, Brussels is not on Erdogan's agenda.

Meanwhile however, Erogan is scheduled to head for the US on December 17-18 to be at a meeting of the "Alliances of Civilizations" project he is heading up with Spanish Prime Minister Zapatero, as well as to attend the ceremonies in honor of the new United Nations General Secretary. It is expected that at this time Erdogan will also be meeting with US President George W. Bush to talk about his visit with top Iranian officials.
