Speaking at Ankara's Esenboga Airport prior to his departure for the US, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan gave reporters information about his upcoming meetings in Idaho, where he will be participating in the Sun Valley Conference from July 5-7. Following his update on his travel schedule, Erdogan spoke about politics in the justice system, confirming that "statements have been made about the politicization of the justice system" and then strongly denied accusations that his Justice and Development Party is aiming to take over the Turkish justice system, saying: "There is no such thing that has been prepared in the new law, nor is this the goal of our administration. Unfortunately, there are those who are taking advantage of the atmosphere to pretend that such a thing is happening. As our Justice Minister has said, this is completely not our approach, such a thing is simply not possible. ..."Erdogan to speak at Sun Valley ConferencePM Erdogan, who will be a guest speaker at Idaho's Sun Valley Conference, will talk about “Turkey's economic experience” at the meeting of top level business leaders. Following his appearance at the Sun Valley Conference, PM Erdogan will go on to San Francisco, where he will give a speech at a think tank there about Turkish-US relations. He is also planning on meeting with local Turkish community representatives while there. Speaking about how official visits from Turkey to the US and from the US to Turkey had taken place quite often this year, Erdogan noted, "Our close allied relations with the US, a country with which we share common values, continue." Erdogan said to reporters that the trip to the US would bring about important steps in Turkish-US relations.
