Encore jazz ensemble prepares to face audience

ANKARA - The Encore Vocal Jazz Ensemble will celebrate the arrival of summer with a concert Saturday at Ankara’s Middle East Technical University, or METU. It will be the newly established group’s first performance and first meeting with an audience.
The Encore Vocal Jazz Ensemble, founded in 2008, is a mix of METU graduates and students with a variety of musical backgrounds who all share a love for singing and performing. The ensemble’s repertoire is primarily jazz for mixed voices although the group likes to experiment with other styles from time to time.
The upcoming concert will feature jazz standards such as "Route 66, Take Five" as well as jazz-themed musical pieces and a cappella songs. The ensemble will be accompanied by a trio of jazz musicians well known in Turkish and international jazz scenes: Janusz Szprot on piano, Kamil Erdem on bass and Emre Kartari on drums.
Anyone who would like to witness the colorful blend of vocal harmony with jazz is invited. Ticket prices are 15 Turkish Liras for students and 20 liras for adults.
The concert will take place at the METU Culture and Congress Center at 8 p.m.
