Emin Colasan: Were confused again

The press conference held yesterday by second in command General Ilker Basbug was interesting. Basbug says: "The US has given direct orders to capture (PKK) terrorists." Seeing as though the center of the swamp is Northern Iraq, to whom has the US given these orders? To the puppet regime in Iraq? Or to the real authorities of Northern Iraq, the Kurds? And who will carry out these orders? Who will actually capture the PKK terrorists? For some reason, Basbug doesn't provide answers to these questions. Two days ago, the Iraqi Interior Minister stood across from NTV cameras and said this: "The Turkish army needs permission from us to enter Northern Iraq. An attempt like that would need backing from both the Iraqi government and the Iraqi Parliament. And I don't know whether they would give it or not!"Turkey would never be able to get permission for such an operation from either of these entities. No government, especially not a puppet regime, would say to another country "come through our borders, and carry out military operations here." Not possible. But in the same statement to the NTV cameras, the Iraqi Interior Minister also said "Our government's words do not have effect in Northern Iraq." The meaning of this clear admission was this: "Get permission from the Kurdish authority in the North." Now, even a 10 year old child would know that the Kurds would never give this permission. And what's more, one of big brother US's top level military and civilian authorities said the other day: "You may carry out such operations only within your own borders." ***General Basbug reveals that we have lost 105 soldiers to terrorism in the last year. And that 37 civilians have also died due to violence. That is the list from one year's struggle! This does not include our kidnapped soldiers, bombed trains, mined cars, injured soldiers, snf random bombs which have exploded in cities. Within this terror tableau, Basbug attributes a great effect to the joblessness rates and lack of education in the Southeast. True, but I wonder whether there isn't joblessness and lack of education in our other regions! Here is the real story: The swamp is in Northern Iraq. This is true. Under pressure from the US, we have created anew and with our own hands the underpinnings and services for terror in Turkey. The AKP administration, again under pressure from the US, has had to stay "democratic and free." The Constitution and laws have been changed to back their directives. A whole raft of separationist activities and groups have been left to operate freely, without fear of prosecution. Those ready to embrace terrorism have been enlivened. Hundreds of diplomatic delegations have been sent to Diyarbakir, lending the terror team strength and moral support. Today, in every corner of Turkey, you are free to shout slogans in favor of Abdullah Ocalan, wave PKK flags, and yell "long live Kurdistand, we want autonomy!" And the Armed Forces have stayed silent and unresponsive to all of this, not wanting to damage the government during bartering with the EU. It ought to have been clear what was going to happen. We should have expected that there would be results. We ran into trouble during our great EU adventure from the very beginning. It became clear how the EU supports terror in our country, whether directly or indirectly, from the very beginning. Even Recep Tayyip Erdogan began to lament the situation. And now, the US has given orders, the terrorists are to be captured! If we need to, we can apparently enter Northern Iraq! Come on, after everything that has happened, we won't even be allowed to set foot in Northern Iraq. Let's not fool ourselves. We would be hindered first by the Kurds, then by the puppet Iraqi regime, and then at the same time by the US and the EU. No one cares about the terror problem facing us. The US's partner and ally in Northern Iraq is the Kurdish authority. And crossing other countries' borders is illegal according to EU bylaws. (Everything is forbidden for us, but not their supporting of terror in our country!) They will pull our ears if we try to enter Northern Iraq. We wouldn't be able to handle the punishment. Anyway, statements to the press won't resolve this mess. What do you think, will they control us this way?Â
