Dogan Group makes great contribution to Treasury

Dogan Group's cumulative contribution to the Treasury reached 5.4 billion YTL ($3.8 billion) in 2004. The total amount of tax paid by the Dogan Group companies and the Dogan family amounted to 963.6 million YTL. Dogan companies, operating in various industries including finance, media, energy, tourism and marketing, employ more than 16,000 people. Responding to the recent debate over Disbank, Dogan Holding's chairman of the board of directors Aydin Dogan expressed his belief that "banking and media can happily sit side by side, if you do your job properly." Answering an inquiry on why he sold Disbank, Dogan said: "There are perfect examples all over the world, that you can do banking and media together. If you do your business in an honest, straight-forward way, then it should not be a problem. The reason why I sold Disbank is because journalists for some reason did not feel comfortable with it, and also because my four daughters did not want to work in the banking industry." Â
