The project titled "Vocational training for Unemployment" will provide vocational placements for the unemployed where they will be taught specific skills that will give them a greater chance of gaining employment in local businesses. Within the project framework, 2,000 vocational courses will be on offer where each candidate will be trained for a period of six months.

While enrolled in the course, pupils will be paid a salary of 340 Turkish Liras per month. The mayor of Sancaktepe, Ismail Erdem, said one in three young people in Turkey are unemployed. "Whether people have been made redundant, or they merely do not have the qualifications to seek employment, we aim to introduce them to a training program that will make them top candidates for employers in the area," he said.
