KEMER - The 8th International Kemer Underwater Days, organized to promote the underwater marvels of Antalya and Kemer, began yesterday.
The event is being organized by the Kemer Tourism Promotion Foundation, or KETAV, and the Mediterranean Archaeological Underwater Research Center, or AASAM, and will host 60 divers from all over the world. Divers met on the Tekirova Üç Islands, which are known to have some of the best diving spots in Turkey, where they dived and took pictures underwater. During the Underwater Days, there will be other activities,, such as photograph exhibitions and an underwater photo contest titled Underwater World. As part of the event, several people and institutions involved in marine archaeology will have their services recognized in an award ceremony.
Another festival was held in Alanya yesterday, as the first edition of Beachtival lit up the Antalya tourist town. Organized by 1990s' pop singer Emre Matraş famous for his songs "Feryadım Göklere" and "Çal Çal Oyna", "Beachtival" took place at the warm sandy beach of the "Tropical Hotel" in neighboring town of Oba.
The line-up of the festival had unsigned bands from several colleges and being headlined by Pijama, a new band emerging from the bar stages of Istanbul in transition to a bigger popularity among the college scene.
