KUŞADASI - A delegation of 16 visited the Aegean town of Kuşadası yesterday as part of the European Union’s Lifelong Learning Program.
Ömer Faruk Türkan, local director of the Education Ministry, said the main purpose of the delegation was to observe the integration of foreigners living in Turkey. "Within the scope of the program, the (delegation) will visit courses we offer to foreigners, to help them adapt to life here and to teach them our language," Türkan said.
The delegation includes members from Spain, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Estonia and Finland, and will be in Kuşadası until Sunday. They will also visit Dilek Peninsula National Park, Ephesus, the Virgin Mary’s House, and Pamukkale.
The Lifelong Learning Program, run by the European Commission, enables individuals at all stages of life to pursue stimulating learning opportunities across Europe. There are four sub-programs focusing on different stages of education and training.
A transversal program aims to ensure they achieve the best results possible. Four key activities focus on policy co-operation, language, information and communication.
