ISTANBUL - Akbank Sanat Piano Days ends tomorrow night with a performance by pianist Cornelia Herrmann who will perform works by Schumann and Brahms.

Born into a family of musicians in Salzburg, Cornelia was the youngest winner of the International J. S. Bach Competition in Leipzig in 1996. In 1999 she received a special award at the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg and in 2001 she received the major Sponsorship Prize from the Hildegard Maschmann Foundation.

Her career has continued to advance. Her debut at the 2002 Salzburg Festival led to another engagement the following year and in 2003 she toured Spain with the Camerata Salzburg and Sir Roger Norrington. Her concerts with the NHK Symphony Orchestra under James Judd in July 2003 brought her a contract for three albums with JVC.

Andras Schiff, who is regarded as one of the most important living pianists, says about Hermann, "She is unusually musical and has sensitive qualities that are rather rare in our musical times."

The concert is tomorrow at 8 p.m. The ticket price is 5 Turkish Liras for students and 10 liras for adults.
