CHP issues first response to Gul's presidential statement

The first response from the main opposition Republican People's (CHP) Party to Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul's statement in regards to his possible presidential candidacy came from CHP Deputy President Mustafa Ozyurek. Ozyurek, who underscored his opposition to Gul's presidential candidacy, said the following:
"We are today as we were yesterday against the candidacy of Abdullah Gul, someone who comes from a National View philosophy. Our stance is clear.....It seems almost definite that Gul will be a candidate.....Gul has issued a message not only to us, but to his own party."
