ISTANBUL - On Children’s Day, the Doğuş Children’s Symphony Orchestra, a unique orchestra comprising students ages 10-16 from music conservatories in Turkey, will be the first youth orchestra to perform "Disney in Concert: Magical Music from the Movies."
With five concerts in April, the orchestra will introduce hundreds of children and families to the musical symphonic world of Disney. In "Disney in Concert: Magical Music from the Movies," families are invited to enjoy a unique experience in which timeless animated images are synchronized with music to transport them to their favorite Disney musical moment. Twenty-six orchestras in eight countries have performed the concert over the past two years, but this is the first time the concert will be played in Turkey.
Led by conductor and general music director Rengim Gökmen, the Doğuş Children’s Symphony Orchestra was founded in 2006 by Doğuş Çocuk, the social responsibility platform of Doğuş Holding.
They will showcase the concert today and tomorrow at the CSO Concert Hall in Ankara with the Presidential Symphony Orchestra, or CSO. After performing in Ankara tomorrow, the Doğuş Children’s Symphony Orchestra will play for music lovers in Istanbul at the Türker İnanoğlu Maslak Show Center on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
A musical journey
The concert of symphonic arrangements from the archives at the Walt Disney Studio is provided by Disney Music Publishing and includes music from early classics to recent releases.
It will take audiences on a musical journey to far off places, where the stories, tales and myths of many cultures have originated. The program incorporates musical performances from Disney’s animated films and Broadway shows such as "The Lion King," "Beauty and the Beast" and "Tarzan."
The Doğuş Children’s Symphony Orchestra aims to introduce Turkish children to music through their peers and popularize universal polyphonic music. Revenues from the concerts are donated to the Fine Arts High Schools in various provinces.
Tickets are available at www.biletix.com. Prices are 20 Turkish Liras for the balcony and 25 liras for the hall.
