ISTANBUL - The Çağa Law Award was presented over the weekend to Zafer Kahraman, a research faculty member of the Civil Law Department at Bahçesehir University’s law faculty for his efforts in 2008.
Kahraman was chosen for the award because of his work on "Oligapolistic Dependency from the point of view of Competition Law." Kahraman graduated from the law faculty of
Galatasaray University and received a further degree in 2007 in the university’s social studies institute.
At the awards ceremony, Çağa Law Foundation’s Executive Board Chairman Barbaros Çağa said, "Interest in the Çağa Law Prize that we began to award in 2002 has continued to grow as each year passes and we receive quite a few applications. Our competition is open to everybody who is active in the area of legal knowledge and practice."
Began seven years ago
The award was first presented seven years ago by the Çağa Law Foundation with the purpose of judging and evaluating work being done in the field of law in Turkey. This year’s prize was 25,000 Turkish lira. Çağa & Çağa Lawyers was established in 1916 and Barbaros Çağa who took over the practice in 1978 represents the family’s third generation in the firm.
The bureau specializes in legal advisory services related to domestic and foreign company investments, media law and foreign capital investments. It also works with foreign legal bureaus in European countries.
