Müzik dergisi Rolling Stone, tüm zamanların en iyi 500 albümünü seçerek özel sayısında yer verdi. Listede birinciliği efsane İngiliz grup The Beatles'ın ”Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band” aldı. Kayıtlarına 24 Kasım 1966 başlanan albüm, karton kapak, kapakta yazılı şarkı sözleri gibi öğeleriyle müzik dünyasında adeta devrim yaratan albüm, birçok müzik grubuna örnek oldu ve akım yarattı. “

Progressive Rock” adlı türün doğmasına öncülük ettiği belirtilen çalışma, bazı kaynaklara göre müzik tarihinin “ilk konsept albümü” kabul ediliyor.

Listede, ikinciliği The Beach Boys'un 1966 tarihli çalışması “Pet Sounds” elde etti. Rock tarihinin en önemli kilometre taşlarından sayılan bu çalışma, grubun beyni Brian Wilson tarafından yaratıldı.

Üçüncülüğü The Beatles'ın yedinci albümü olan 1966 tarihli “Revolver” elde ederken, efsane grubun “The White Album” isimli 1968 tarihli çalışması onuncu, “Abbey Road” adlı 1969 tarihli çalışması 14., “Please Please Me” 39., ”Meet the Beatles” 59., “Let It Be” 86. oldu. “Abbey Road”, kapağında yer alan ve grubun meşhur yaya geçidinden karşıdan karşıya geçen fotoğrafıyla da tanınıyor. Topluluğun toplam 11 çalışması listeye girdi.
