Store windows and shutters have come rolling down across Diyarbakir, as merchants protest the bombing that killed 10 citizens Tuesday evening in front of city park. In addition to this economic form of protest, municipality buildings are flying white and black flags to signal their distress over the explosion, which took the lives of at least 6 children. A call has risen up from Diyarbakir residents for the local and national security and police forces to discover as soon as possible who and what was responsible for the blast.

Black for mourning, white for peace

The black and white flags being flown from Diyarbakir municipality buildings reportedly signify peace
(white) and mourning (black). They are also being flown on municipality vehicles, and worn on the lapels of city workers.

Carnations and candles were left at the site of the explosions by a group of mourners and protestors who gathered this morning, although an attempted protest march was stopped by police, who claimed it broke security rules in place. Kosuyolu Boulevard, where the blast took place, has been closed to traffic.
