Business booming on sidelines of water forum

Hundreds of companies from all over the world are presenting services, products and other water-related work for the duration of the weeklong water forum. Walking into the gigantic white tent is much like walking into an aquarium where it is impossible to be selective with the countless colorful and striking exhibitions and products on display.

Although it takes much time to walk around the expo space, it is impossible to go thirsty as numerous water companies hand out samples of their water. The most striking sample was seawater handed out by the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade. With the goal of supplying people with enough quality water, the company has focused on potable water in Spain. Using the latest technology in order to make seawater drinkable, they follow a four-stage process: optimization, absorption, biological filtration and membrane processes. As a result the water tastes no different than any other.

Leading Korean water supplier, K-water, also handed out Korean fans and sweets. With the aim of becoming the world’s most comprehensive water service company, K-water is using a process the company calls STEP. This includes service, where they aim to provide the best solution on water resources for customer satisfaction; technology, where they aim to secure the best level of expertise in water resources technology; ethics, where they aim to meet the highest level of ethics; and as a last step, price, where they will foster their employees’ pride and satisfaction through innovative management that meets global standards.

The Turkish General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works, or DSI, and joint organizers of the water forum also have stands at the expo fair. Here information and statistics are available about water resources management in Turkey and future developments projects. As leaders in energy-saving equipment, a Danish engineering and environment consultancy company, Grontmij, was also an important participant of the fair. Grontmij and the Danish water forum panel presented displays of leading wastewater management equipment and pipes that transport wastewater safely without seepage.

In addition to hosting the companies’ exhibitions, the water fair is also an open venue for the presentation of different types of cultural, social and educational activities on water-related subjects. These include a poster exhibition, the International Water and Film Event, the Global Water Education Village, a Learning Center, water-related performances and a photo exhibition.
