Bush recalls in West Point address: US saved Turkey from communism

In his address to this year's graduates from the West Point military academy, US President George W. Bush spoke about former US President Harry Truman's prediction of the threat of the Cold War, and how his extension of economic aid to Greece and Turkey was visionary in terms of helping America win the Cold War, and saving Greece and Turkey from communism.
In a message to Damascus and Tehran, Bush also noted in his West Point address that US security was linked to the spread of democracy through the Middle East. Said Bush, "In this problematic region, we will stand behind the democractic reforms being carried out, and we will bring freedom to millions, while putting down the foundations of peace for coming generations."
Turkish sources listening to Bush's speech noted the similarity between his words and parts of dialogue that takes place between American Colonel Sam Marshall (played by Billy Zane) and Turkish Polat Alemdar (played by Necati Sasmaz) in the popular but controversial Turkish film which came out earlier in the year, "Valley of the Wolves-Iraq." The film contained a scene which was based on a real life event which had taken place between Turkish and American soldiers in Northern Iraq two years ago.
The dialogue that Bush's West Point statements has been compared to is as follows:
Polat Alemdar: I will put this bag over your head.....I will do the same thing to your men.
S.W. Marshall: Are these the same bags I placed over your soldiers' heads?
Polat Alemdar: You better put this over your head while it is still attached to your body.
S.W. Marshall: Alright, look you Turk! I know Turks very well. They love to be praised. You have an unchanging Iraq policy. Shall I tell you something? We have overthrown your Iraqi policy, and you don't mind this, but you mind a couple of bags over your heads. Let me tell you what you really mind. The US has been giving you money for the past 50 years. Even the elastic bands in your underwear comes from us. How can you forget that you pleaded with us to save you from communism?
