British Ambassador: We do not understand what a cross-border operation would achieve

“We understand and appreciate Turkey’s struggle against PKK,” Baird said. “We understand the pressure there, but we do not understand what will be gained in an operation in Northern Iraq. It could, on the contrary, result in long-term damage to the region,” Baird said. Expressing that it is crucial for action to be taken in Iraq, Ambassador Baird stated, “We expect more progress from the Iraq-US-Turkey triangle. We believe that the Kurdish regional administration needs to understand that it has sometimes reacted in a way that has made it difficult for Turkey to pursue its task.”
