BP, the U.K.-based oil company, and Electricite de France SA, Europe's biggest power supplier, plan to buy stakes in Turkish companies that won government licenses to set up wind farms, Hurriyet daily reported on Tuesday.

BP is interested in acquiring stakes in seven projects, with a capacity of 246 megawatts, for which businessman Abdullah Tivnikli holds licenses, Hurriyet said. EDF will buy shares in an unidentified Turkish company that owns other licenses, Hurriyet said.

German and Indian companies have sought information on wind-farm licenses from the energy-markets regulator, Hurriyet also said, without naming the companies.

The regulator issued licenses for 13 wind-power stations, worth almost 600 million euros ($900 million), with a combined capacity to generate 2 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, it said.
