Bosphorus Strait shut due to strong currents

The Bosporus shipping channel between the Mediterranean and the Black Sea has been closed due to strong currents, a source at the Master Maritime Agency, which provides transit services in the area, told Platts news agency on Tuesday.
"The straits were shut at 06:00 this morning [04:00 GMT] because of strong currents," the source said. "We expect that they will re-open tomorrow morning but we're not sure."
Delays through the Bosporus were reported at a total of six days on Monday, but early Tuesday morning the closure had already increased estimated delays to between eight and 10 days, Platts added.
