Firefighters extinguished the blaze that was triggered by the blast in a parquetry store on the ground floor of the building, the agency said. The agency had earlier said the blast had occurred in a patisserie. The injured, most suffering from smoke inhalation, have all been hospitalized.

The blast is believed to have stemmed from chemical-based products stored on the premises that are used in laying flooring, Eskişehir Governor Mehmet Kılıçlar said in a statement. The head of the provincial fire department, however, later said the blast was due to a gas leak.
