MARMARİS, Muğla - A host of events and activities will entertain both participants and spectators when the 45th Presidential Cycling Tour hits Marmaris on April 15.
The tour of Turkey kicked off its seven-leg race on Sunday with 160 world-famous cyclists from 160 countries pedaling their way from İzmir to Alanya on a route that traverses the coasts of the Aegean and Mediterranean regions.
As part of the event, the Marmaris Municipality is organizing enjoyable activities on land, at sea and in the air. Highlights will include "flying bikes" and a performance by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s Janissary Band. Other tourism centers along the route, including the cities of Kuşadası, Bodrum, Marmaris, Fethiye, Finike and Antalya, are preparing to meet the bikers with colorful events as well.
As one of the seven legs of the cycling tour, Marmaris is set to host the most remarkable celebration. Led by the Marmaris Governorship and the Marmaris Municipality, many official and unofficial institutions in the city are busily planning the event.
The Marmaris water-sports team is preparing a show featuring a parasailing cyclist. The world-champion balloon artist Dündar Mercan is creating other "flying bikes" Ğ life-size bicycle balloons that will soar in the sky during the day. The Janissary Band of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism will perform a show in the streets of Marmaris. On the city’s main street, a wall painting will be on display for the cyclists.
From the entrance to the finish line, the city’s music groups, dancers and other performers will provide entertainment for the event.
