On Feb. 28, 2006, the Criminal Court in Bruges sentenced ten members of the DHKP-C including Erdal, Karatas, Asoglu, Saz, Kimyongur, Sari and Sukriye Akar Ozordulu to prison, the terms ranging from four to six years for crimes they committed in Belgium. The Gent Supreme Court of Appeals ratified and lengthened some of the sentences on Nov. 7, 2006.
Asoglu, Saz, Ozordulu and Kimyongur were in custody serving a prison sentence at that time, while Erdal, Karatas and Sari, who were under police surveillance, disappeared two days before the court decision.
