ISTANBUL - The historic Salı Pazarı (Tuesday Bazaar) in Istanbul will be transformed into a used car bazaar once a week starting in February.
The Tuesday bazaar moved to a new location in Hasanpaşa in December after hosting shoppers in Kadiköy for many years. The bazaar offers textile products, shoes, food, artificial flowers, electronic products, domestic and foreign glassware, and will open its doors to car fans for the first time.
The Salı Pazarı will be turned into an automotive bazaar on Sundays from Feb. 1. The second-hand auto bazaar is aimed at bringing dynamism to the second-hand car industry. The bazaar area, managed by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and handed over to İSPARK, the municipality’s car parking organization, will be easy to get to as it is connected with the D100 highway on the Anatolian side. Chairman of İSPARK, Kadir Gurbetci, said, "We will offer a trustworthy bazaar to people." The Salı Pazarı, open Tuesdays and Fridays covers an area of 40,000 square meters. The area will now host 1,300 vehicles and affordable prices are expected.
