NEW DELHI - The organizers of the round-the-world Volvo Ocean Race have warned participants to be extra-vigilant ahead of their arrival in the Indian port of Kochi in the wake of a series of coordinated attacks that killed more than 100 people in Mumbai.

"The stakeholders of the Volvo Ocean Race in Kochi are currently being informed of the situation and advised to be extra vigilant with security," said organizers in a statement sent to AFP in Hong Kong. "Currently no upgrade of terrorist threat level has been made for the city of Kochi following the developments in Mumbai."

Meanwhile, international cricket in India will also go into recess for at least two weeks after the attacks.

England and India officials agreed in an emergency meeting yesterday to postpone the last two matches of their limited-overs international series in Guwahati and New Delhi.

Next month's two test matches are also in doubt. "We held consultations among all the stakeholders (and) it was agreed that in the best interests of all concerned, the inaugural edition of the Champions League Twenty20 should be postponed," tournament chairman Lalit Modi said. "We offer our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and we are with them in their hour of grief."
