The angry answer received from Armenia to Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan's letter calling for a "partnership commission" to look into the events of 1915 was matched this week by a similar response from Armenians living in France.
In a letter from Harout Mardirosian, head of the French Armenian Case Defense Committee, Mardirosian said "This offer is a charade, they are covering their attempt to deny the genocide through appearing to open discussions about it. We call on European leaders not to fall into this Turkish trap, because the Armenian genocide cannot be discussed like this, its reality cannot be argued."
The head of the Armenian Socialist Party, Murat Papazian, said "Historians have already done their work in international archives. The United Nations and the European Parliament, as well as France and as many as 20 other countries, have recognized the Armenian genocide. The truth has been revealed. To open up the results to discussion would be like attempting to deny them."
