Another case makes 21 victims in Turkey

Turkey announced on Tuesday that another child had fallen sick after eating chicken in the eastern city of Erzurum making the total number of confirmed cases in the country 21. The child was hospitalized after he bagen suffering from breathing difficulties, and is currently being monitored in the intensive care unit at a hospital in Ezurum. "The patient's general condition is good," said Akin Aktas, the head of the hospital.

Aktas did not specify whether the patient was a boy or a girl. Results returned were positive for the H5N1 strain, making it the fourth victim from the village of Dogubayazit.
 
A US team of experts started work in Turkey Tuesday to help local officials in their efforts to combat the outbreak as the Turkish government said it had the situation under control.
 
The Turkish health ministry identified the new case of H5N1 infection as a child from the remote eastern town of Dogubeyazit, near the border with Iran, from where the four dead also hailed.
 
In Van, five-year-old Muhammed Ozcan, the brother of one of the four victims, was reported in deteriorating condition.
